We love food! Homemade, snacks, takeout, you name it… we’re on it! 😉 Having a little doesn't stop us from enjoying a meal we don't have to cook ourselves. Thankfully Billings has many kid-friendly eateries and watering holes to enjoy.
Here are 6 of our favorite locally-owned family-friendly places to eat.
Located on historic Montana Avenue, Last Chance is a beautiful place to grab a cider and watch the trains go by through the giant windows. They press apples weekly between October and March, which gives you another thing to watch with kiddos. They have a great patio out back when the weather is nice and their kitchen always pumps out delicious food and a new cheesecake option every day.
Meadowlark recently relocated its brewing operations from the Northeast corner of the state to Billings and they’ve quickly become a fan favorite in town. They have a playroom that calls to kids as soon they step foot into the large building! Plus they boast a nice large patio. The food is good, I love their Peach Wheat beer, and the atmosphere is top-notch.
Another gem on Montana Avenue, Ciao Mambo continually pleases parents and their kiddos alike. Delicious food, a fantastic wine list, rotating beers, and creative twists on classic Italian recipes meaning everyone in the family can find something. For our active guy, the lively atmosphere and music turned up are part of what keeps him entertained and us coming back again and again.
A lighthearted and fun diner, Bernie’s Diner is located in the historic Northern Hotel in downtown Billings. Open daily for breakfast and dinner, Bernie’s has some delicious and fun items on their menu that kids love including cereal-crusted Frech Toast and their Vacation Breakfast which features a piece of chocolate cake & a chocolate milkshake! Us parents are big fans of their extra-large coffee cups to fuel us up before a day of wrangling kids.
I’m pretty sure kids are born with a love for a juicy cheeseburger. Well… at least Montana kids. And Billings is home to the world-award-winning, Burger Dive, which makes it easy to get your burger fix. Their burgers are made fresh daily and never frozen on a locally made bun. Their fires and onion rights are fresh cut daily and they use Wilcoxson’s ice cream for their milkshakes. With an old-school diner vibe, friendly staff, and yummy food you can’t go wrong with a stop with your whole family.
One of our favorite family-friendly places! They have trashcan nachos that are so yummy, but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. They host weekend brunch so you don’t have to. When the weather is nice they have a killer patio with a game area for corn hole, life-size Jenga, and a putting green.
If you’re looking to grab a beer from a great brewery, try out Thirsty Street. The owners have two children and strive to make their establishment family friendly and we think they do a great job! They don’t serve food themselves but another great business, The Bearded Bulldog, will deliver to you in the brewery so you can enjoy their pub grub and a pint. Win-win!
